150 New vehicles // Happy New Year // What is planned for 2023?

Hi, we hope you had a wonderful time between Christmas and New Year! We gave away 20 free de-wiper windshield wiper clearing kits (wiper delete kit) via Instagram, and hopefully the lucky ones will be in touch soon with a photo of the removed wiper in their rear window!

This year we are planning to redesign our website. Especially the compatibility with Chrome and Safari is still expandable. The latest changes in the Content Security Policy had shot down some parts of the templates and so it was partly not possible to click on “Order” which of course was mega be…. is. If you notice something like this, please contact us – we will try to fix the problems as soon as possible. Basically, you should be able to buy glass rear wiper covers from us from all terminals easy.

Update

We were able to add 152 new vehicles to the fleet. Unfortunately, the dimensions of the rear wiper holes are not yet verified for all cars, so there may be some initial misdeliveries. please note that we deliver our de-wiper sets worldwide and then also gladly exchange non-fitting rear wiper plugs – only please do not damage the glass covers when you try them in the hole in the rear window of the car! Small tip to all with defective rear wiper -> simply replace with a glass plug from gecleant.de! 😉

Pay 35 euros >>> get 30 euros back?*

Hi guys.

We have changed some things on the website in the last few days because the Google search once again places new demands on multilingual content. That was… so… medium. : D

Particular attention was paid to the page speed. The pages should load much faster now and I would be happy if you would do some tests. If you have any problems, please call.

Since the campaign has been around for a while, but somehow fewer and fewer people are taking advantage of the offer, here is a brief reminder in the article: if you remove the rear window wiper and close the hole in the rear window with a glass plug, then it doesn’t just look perfect clean out, no, it only costs 5 euros. For this please on account -> Take a look at the review and read how you can get 30 euros from your order as a voucher and save 30 euros on the next one! Here is the information.

PS: We are now from 16.04. – 23.04. short Easter break. Everything that was open until then was sent yesterday. If you have any questions, please contact us from April 24th. call.

2022 updates – everything stays the same and yet… :)

Hi,

As already announced several times, we have to switch off the material selection tinted (gray glass) and untinted (green glass) because the procurement of materials keeps getting stuck and we have unnecessarily delayed production. Since the float gray variant, i.e. gray tinted glass, looks much better – but unfortunately is more expensive – we only offered this as an option for privacy glazed vehicle rear windows. We will now manufacture all rear wiper plugs from this expensive material. That means there is no choice and the price goes up a bit. We had already announced this in June 2021.

The new all-inclusive price for a stopper incl. Glue set (glue and cleaner) shipping and packaging is now 35 euros. This is the amount in Germany incl. VAT since the local VAT rate has been in effect in the EU since the end of 2021. This may vary slightly for you. Internationally, the rear window wiper replacement costs EUR 37.50 incl. tracking.

Furthermore, there is now a hotline +49 341 46387532 because the helpdesk / e-mail system keeps causing problems and the best way to reach us is by phone. So if you have a problem with your stopper, please just call us, use the live chat on the website (green as soon as an employee is available) and only write an e-mail if it doesn’t work anymore. We are only a small manufactory and unfortunately cannot clarify every problem in writing. That’s just too much effort. Please just call and we’ll sort it out straight away. THANKS!

Otherwise, the highest quality of the product is our primary goal. The view of the rear of the vehicle without the rear window wiper is and remains the greatest change with the least amount of effort when it comes to vehicle refinement. Rear washer clean from the glass insert. Finished. Looks good, fits perfectly and is easy to install.

Have a nice 2022…

Your gecleant.de team Marie, Markus, Stefan and Tom. 🙂

Golden autumn … but unfortunately without a phone

Hello! After our summer vacation we will be in touch with a slightly longer update:

1. The time has now come that the 3G transmission masts have been dismantled and we therefore unfortunately do not have a VOIP landline number for our cell phone. As a result, the landline number is unfortunately no longer available. We have already installed a LAN connection with a telephone socket and will immediately arrange for a replacement to make the outage as short as possible. In order to improve availability, we have planned more frequent online chat times. So take a look here and when the green “Live Chat Online” button is visible, someone will be there for you personally.

2. A suitable plug will soon be available for the current Opel models (Corsa 2021, for example). That took longer because the hole was a little below our minimum possible milling dimension. We have renewed some tools and adapted the CNC control and hope to be able to deliver the usual good quality even with the smallest hole diameter for the rear window.

3. The mentioned price adjustment is almost there – so if you still want to buy something at old prices, you should hurry up. The change in material and the associated increase in costs make this step inevitable. In return, everyone now benefits from the darker, somewhat more expensive material, which in the end means an even cleaner “rear” on the vehicle for everyone.

4. After the baby and summer vacation, some e-mails and support inquiries have built up. Please be patient, we will work through all inquiries one after the other and everyone will get an answer. Sorry if it takes a while …

5. We will redesign the website again and use the quieter autumn / winter early days for this. So there can be failures from time to time. Please just have a look later if something doesn’t work out.

Have a nice week too …

Stefan

Price adjustment and sneak peek

Hi! As announced in the last post, we are changing our product range.

From now on we will manufacture all new stoppers from the darker (more expensive) material. This means that the previously possible selection “tinted” or “standard” is no longer available for 80% of our glass wiper covers. The “Tinted” reference on the packaging will then be removed the next time the product packaging is revised.

So far, the tinted version was more expensive. We have decided to raise the price for a complete “Wiper-Kill-Kit” (glass cover, cleaner, adhesive, shipping) from 30, – (32.50 tinted) to 35, – Euro. Internationally, it costs 37.50 euros.

At this point, a first big thank you Marcel K. that made me think about stickers. So far, I was of the opinion that you should remove the wiper because you want everything back there nicely tidied up and CLEAN. I always found a sticker in the place where the rear window wiper was before as counterproductive – emphasizes what is actually good because it’s gone. 😉

Anyway … after some thought, I’ll be stocking up on a few handcrafted stickers, and the idea is that we’ll add a few incentives to them. I’ll give Marcel some of the stickers and stoppers for his buddies (recommendations). If the recommended customer builds the stopper and installs the glue and advertises it on Insta bissl, the stopper and the glue don’t cost him anything. Let’s see how it works … if the feedback is good, I will extend it to other good customers.

More on that later …

Not perfect yet but almost / price adjustment inevitable?

Hi tailgate cleaners and those who want to be.

Our stoppers made in Leipzig are great – the website is not really. Unfortunately, there were massive problems with the switch to multilingual content, which meant that last weekend there was little to no product to be found. It took us the last week to clean it up and are now gradually unlocking the other languages. German, English and French should now work without errors. If you still “find” something, please write to support@gecleant.de. What is also important to say: due to the unexpected errors, some e-mails got stuck and we are gradually answering them. It just takes a while until we’re through there. If you have been waiting for an answer for a long time, please be patient a little longer. Sorry for that in advance.

And because we’re already on the rather unpleasant news: the glass industry, like the wood industry, is currently stumbling heavily. This means that we currently cannot get our standard raw material (float glass) in our colors. We still have raw material in stock, but we will already manufacture the next batch of stoppers exclusively in the premium material (darker), which otherwise cost extra for the glass stoppers, which had a selection of the material. So you may have already received a stopper in the more expensive but better material without even realizing it. If the situation does not ease, we will manufacture all plugs completely from premium material. This reduces the effort but will be reflected in the price. I am currently aiming for a set price of 35 euros. (incl. shipping / packaging) In the course of this I am thinking about sending it by registered mail, because things get lost more and more often. But more on that later …

Oh and what’s new, too, are the better and more elaborately polished edges of the stopper. We were able to optimize the manufacturing process to polish the plugs finer and thus achieve an even cleaner edge, which results in a much better look. The quality of our glass mop hole plugs has always been first class;) only with this little update it will be a little nicer. If you have suggestions on how we can get better, let us know! support@gecleant.de …

& nbsp;

So that’s it for us …

Turn 1 into 9 languages – Multilingual De-Wiper Products made in Germany

For the last three days we have been busy translating the content that was previously only stored in several languages on the pages / system level. Unfortunately, there were some very unsightly system errors that changed pricing or “destroyed” entire products. Keeping the many subsystems together is quite an exhausting affair and we hope all restrictions are now removed. If you have problems ordering, please write to support@gecleant.de.

Our glass stoppers are now in NINE LANGUAGES available. That makes 113 products * 9 = 1019 Rear wiper covers made of glass for 36 vehicle manufacturers and roughly 1,000 models therein.

We are currently trying to rework all errors – so please be patient if the illustrations do not yet match.

Oh, and you can leave feedback directly – the term “rear wiper cover” is certainly not translated properly in Japanese and it would be helpful if native speakers support us in using the correct terms. Here is a list of terms that we would like to have translated into “real speech”:

  • Rear wiper cover
  • Wiper hole plug
  • Glasstopfen
  • Rear wiper plug
  • De-wiper kit
  • wiper
  • Rear wiper

Do you help Great, then click on the little icon in the language right and let us know what can be different / better. THANKS!

How To: Dismantling the rear window wiper using the example of the Volkswagen Golf VI

The whole procedure can be broken down into threeparts:

– Disassembly of the wiper

– Disassembly of the wiper motor

– the installation of the plug

1. Disassembly of the wiper.

Lift the cap on the wiper arm and loosen the M10 nut.

Then fold up the wiper arm and move it gently in different directions.

The wiper arm should now detach from the cone of the motor shaft.

2. Disassembly of the wiper motor

Disconnect the vehicle battery.

Open the tailgate and remove the lower tailgate panel.

To do this, remove the two Torx T20 screws in the recessed grip.

Slide a plastic wedge under the panel. It is best to start at the bottom of the tailgate edge. Pull the panel with a little force. Leave the spring clips in place (8 pieces). The tailgate spring clips are located there (interior view).

It can always break something, but at ambient temperatures above 20 ° C there should be no problem.

Then remove the tailgate trim from the window trim. Now you will see the wiper motor.

Disconnect the cables from the wiper motor.

Secure the loose cables to an existing wiring harness with cable ties.

Then loosen the three screws and carefully remove the wiper motor from the tailgate.

3. The installation of the plug

Thoroughly clean the disc and stopper beforehand with a solvent-free cleaner.
Then pull a narrow bead of adhesive / adhesive strip approx. 1mm from the edge of the hole onto the window from the inside.
Then press the carefully cleaned stopper into the hole from the inside and align the stopper.

Hints: There must not be too much adhesive on the window so that it does not come into contact with the visible surface of the plug when it is pressed in. However, it should be sufficient to enable continuous bonding all around.

how_to_remove_golf_mk6_rear_wiper_step3_glass_vs_plastic_rubber_cap-577x364

If a bit of glue oozes out on the inside, that’s not so bad, you can spread it around the stopper and thus provide additional support. (the rest of the glue in the 3g tube is also suitable for this)

how_to_remove_golf_mk6_rear_wiper_step3_mount_the_glass_grommet-577x364

Wait until the window adhesive has completely hardened. Assemble the tailgate trim in reverse order. Make sure that the spring clips are correctly seated.

Enjoy the clean look of the car!

New website online

Puuuuuh, … that was a ride. 😉 In 2006 we started with the first order form written in PHP for the wiper hole covers, which were then still made of aluminum and painted by hand. Shortly afterwards, Cubecart came into play as a shop system. A lot of custom code was then implemented and payment systems, internet brands, etc. connected. This went through more or less unchanged until last year in 2020 – but it had some really unpleasant disadvantages. For example, the possibility to work with modern payment systems, to map cleanly multilingualism, to provide customers with a login area … and much more.

We have long “resisted” to change the system, because NEVER CHANGE A RUNNING SYSTEM but now that two-factor, Apple Pay and other technical necessities have slowed down the old system or made it unusable, it was overdue to do everything from scratch.

Renewing a 15 year old system – that meant for us:

  1. We have about 30,000 customer data migrated from the last 15 years – this is not really trivial in times of GDPR. All customers were written to and asked to confirm that we can activate the account – whoever does not want this will be removed. If you write to so many people who have probably not heard from us for years, you will have some queries in the form of e-mails – that too was correspondingly demanding. 😉
  2. The old database structure With all products, vouchers and order data, the structure was completely different – but we tried to transfer as much information as possible. This means that we have written migration functions for the important tables that clean up the correct information and port it into the new structure and then make it possible to integrate them into the new system via the import function.

But what has become better now?

  1. Product filter function. Setting up this function was a mammoth task. We looked at 3,600 data sets (vehicle models) by hand and cataloged them and compared them with our previous experience / data and measured values. The result is 1,000 – 1,500 (depending on how you look at it) manually assigned product relationships. Does the vehicle have a rear window wiper? Do we have the measure of the hole? Where is the same wiper installed? What color is the glass? Etc… We are very proud of this function, because it enables us to add new products quickly and easily and to react more quickly to changes and suggestions from our customers. So if you can’t find a vehicle, please write to us and we will correct the data record.
  2. No more generic articles for glass stoppers but all glass stoppers explicitly assigned to the vehicle -> This results in a five-fold increase in our product range. Means that we now display brands such as Hyndai, Dacia, Cupra etc. individually in the shop and thus reach five times as many customers as before.
  3. Stock status and availability – so everyone can see what is in stock before buying and how long it will take to ship – and we know where it is stuck and when it is time to mill new plugs. Our goal is to have the goods with the customer within 2-7 days. With worldwide shipping, that’s very sporty and we still don’t achieve this in all cases – but we’re not an Amazon either – but that’s a big step in the right direction and we will continue to optimize the processes.
  4. The new ticket system And the clear goal: No more popular inquiries unanswered / unanswered. In the past we unfortunately had problems maintaining communication. As long as nothing goes wrong it is pretty easy to answer emails – but if a machine breaks down, production runs incorrectly, the website spins and hundreds of emails come in, things go wrong pretty quickly. That should never happen again. Still, it probably takes a while to answer queries in such extreme situations – but they need to be answered. And that is exactly our goal: No request remains unanswered – everyone – WORLDWIDE – gets their goods / replacement stoppers / money back or whatever. Nothing is further from us than losing customers, postponing problems or forcing discrepancies just because we are difficult to reach.
  5. Modern Mobile first design – which finally enables us to deliver different templates for different devices and in different languages. This is a big step and we are happy to take advantage of it in detail even more than before. In terms of design, we follow our “less is more” motto and, in addition to the product range, now also reduce the appearance to the essentials – GLASS POTS – and so we are now entering the home page and hope you like it as much as we do. : D

There were problems?

  1. In any case. Unfortunately, the import of the old data did not go 100% smoothly. A comma error led, for example, to incorrect invoice amounts for old orders in the new system. Since we only need the information for statistical purposes – i.e. what was ordered by the customer in the past – this is not really bad, but unfortunately we forgot to issue the notification function about completed orders for around 100 customer data records so that these 100 customers have been successfully imported E-mails with completely wrong texts were sent out with incorrect data records, which of course caused great irritation.
  2. You can’t just press a button and import thousands of data – these have to be cleaned up beforehand and with more than 10,000 lines this is correspondingly slow. In total, we cleaned up data for roughly 3 months and then finally imported everything in small parts over a week. Nights until 5 o’clock in the morning were very “exhausting” and at the limit of what was reasonable for the family – sorry for that.
  3. The new systems do not run smoothly straight away. on 02/17/2021 we closed the old systems and activated the new ones on 02/18/2021. In the course of this, we also moved to a new, faster server in another data center with a corresponding failover. Functionally there were then some stumbling blocks – at first, for example, settings were incorrect and notifications were completely wrong. In the first week after the relaunch, almost everything still had to be adjusted, although we had worked on the test server in the months before. In the end, we had the biggest problems with the shipping software pzw. the plug-in of Deutsche Post – i.e. the integration of the correct postage in the correct place in the invoice PDF. Thanks to Johannes who finally solved this last week via custom code.

Our conclusion

I am very proud of our team and want to Thanks to Marie, Markus, Tom and Johannes say who supported me in this huge campaign. Therefore, on the new website you will now find all the people who make cleant possible. The result of the restart is nowhere near perfect and it will take us a while until we can say that it is finished, but so far so good … I would say.
